Catalina Apartments [17 Units, TOC] 3 Very Low Income Units

 

This project was designed to incorporate prefabricated modular units built off-site. The egress stairs, usually an afterthought and hidden in building cores, take centerstage as the focal point of the front and back facades. A built-up layered system comprised of black and brass perforated metals, black glass and white panelled siding is formed against the backdrop of ipe wood siding. The 5-story contemporary structure includes 17 units ranging from studio to 3-bedroom, a dog run in the backyard, a communal fifth floor deck and a roof deck.
