Diriyah Gate Urban Housing
Diriyah Gate Urban Residential (Site 4) introduces a distinctly urban character to Diriyah Gate II, reinforcing the street grid and energizing key boulevards with a mix of housing and retail. Positioned at a prominent corner, the development defines the district’s civic edge while stepping down in scale to meet both the Wadi and the adjacent park. The result is a building that anchors the neighborhood yet remains sensitive to its natural and urban surroundings.
Organized around a central courtyard, the residential units open outward to the city and inward to a shaded, landscaped communal space. Retail at the street level activates the ground plane, supporting a vibrant pedestrian experience and fostering neighborhood life.
Drawing on traditional Najdi forms, deep balconies and finely detailed screen elements offer shade, privacy, and texture along the façades. A corner tower marks the building’s presence, signaling its importance within the larger urban context. Compact, efficient massing and carefully integrated contemporary amenities create a residential block that is rooted in Najdi traditions while responding to the needs of modern living.
This project is the result of a collaborative partnership between WTARCH and Brooks + Scarpa. The development is further supported by a multidisciplinary team of consultants, including Atelier Ten, IA Interior Architects, Thornton Tomasetti, Integral Group, Tina Chee Landscape Studio, and Omgivning
