Tucked into a steep hillside in Silver Lake, the Ivan Hill ADU adds 1,152 square feet of flexible living space to a compact 2006 home. Designed as a series of staggered volumes that follow the slope of the site, the ADU creates a unique spatial journey through split levels, linking two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a shared living area, and a rooftop deck.

Materially, the project contrasts a shimmering, blue-tiled cubic volume with a stepped, earth-toned form inspired by topographic lines. Inside, white oak flooring and custom cadet blue cabinetry unify the interiors, while bold bathroom tilework introduces bursts of color. Outdoor features—including a sauna, cold plunge, and swim spa—extend the living space and embrace the layered, open character of hillside living in Los Angeles.
